Intensive Therapy

What is Intensive Therapy?

Intensive therapy is therapy that is consolidated into multi-hour sessions, at times held on multiple consecutive days.

Why would some people opt for intensive therapy, as opposed to weekly 45-minute sessions?

-Research is demonstrating the finding that intensive therapy is more effective than weekly or bi-weekly sessions.

-Individuals who have challenging work schedules or limited availability often prefer intensive therapy due to the consolidation of the treatment.

-Some clients are in a state of crisis, whether personally or in their marriage/relationship or families, and feel a need to immerse themselves in treatment, as a means to find resolution more quickly.

What will happen during these sessions?

-Intensive sessions will begin with a full psychosocial evaluation with mutually agreed upon treatment goals. Based on the needs of the individual, couple or family, the therapist will utilize eclectic evidence-based theoretical interventions.

The minimum length of an intensive is 120 minutes and the maximum length is 5 hours (with one 30 minute break half-way through the session).
