Psychotherapy
Individual, couple, family and group
Psychotherapy is a process in which the client and therapist join together to discuss issues that may be affecting the client's quality of life. Goals are discussed and created as a team between the client and therapist. The therapist will challenge the clients thought patterns, provide psychoeducation, identify patterns and family of origin influences, and work to raise awareness of what maybe limiting the client to reach his or her greatest potential.
**Intensive and/or Urgent Psychotherapy**
Clients often call with an issue that is causing significant distress, although it is not considered a medical or mental health emergency. Also, clients often have challenging schedules and cannot commit to weekly or biweekly therapy. If either of these scenarios sound like you or your relationship, you may want to consider an intensive meeting that will take place on a weekday evening or weekend day. We will meet for either 2 or 3 consecutive hours. These appointment will be more spread out, in which we will meet every 3-4 weeks. You will walk away with "homework" to help reinforce the work from the session.
I will do my absolute best to meet with you within 72-hours of your initial phone call to me.
Cultivating mindfulness is an effective, research-based practice that is easily accessible to the client. It is used to reduce the impact of stress, pain, illness, and PTSD, while promoting an improved quality of life. With the use of a non-judgmental and nurturing lens, the client will gain improved awareness of one's thoughts, feelings, bodily sensations, and environment. Mindfulness practice encourages engaging in the present moment. With consistency and continuity the client's practice of mindfulness will strengthen, resulting in the support of health and well-being.
“There is mounting evidence that cultivating mindfulness can increase our enjoyment of life, expand our capacity to cope with illness, and possibly improve our physical and emotional health… It can reduce stress and may help other treatments work better.”
